Language Learning Programs
Curriculum and “System/Policies”for Kindergartens
A in J FORTUNE provides kindergartens in Sapporo with native
English speaking teachers. These teachers are energetic, friendly,
reliable, experienced and between the ages of 25-35yrs.
The Teaching System
The A in J FORTUNE motto concerning the teaching of kindergarten children is: “young children learn English by playing games and always being physically active in the classroom…never just sitting and listening to the teacher speak”.
The teaching of kindergarten children and other older young children (7-12yrs)is done through the use of dynamic games and activities.
A in J FORTUNE teachers teach the children English by playing various
games and doing physical activities with the young children.
The following are some examples of what A in J FORTUNE teachers
teach and do in Kindergarten classrooms:
***the use of alphabet cards(teach the letters A-Z)
***Animal picture cards(game/activity playing)
***Action commands: walk, run, jump, hop, sit, stand, etc.
***Color cards (game/activity playing)
***play catch ball / language teaching games with a ball
***Guess What I Did Game
***Hello Song, Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes Song
***Blindman’s Bluff game
***”Feelings” game: hot, cold, happy, sad, tired, etc.
***many, many more fun games, songs and play activities for the children.
A in J FORTUNE teachers begin teaching at Sapporo kindergartens in the spring semester (April) or in the fall semester (September). A in J FORTUNE provides teachers to kindergartens on either 6 month contracts(anytime after April 1st to the start of summer vacation) or 1 year contracts (anytime after April 1st to the end of March of the following year).
Time Length of Kindergarten Classes
The time length of each class at a kindergarten is usually determined by the “age” of the children in each class. A in J FORTUNE suggests the following classroom instruction time length.
Note: all times are only suggested and are negotiable between the kindergarten
and A in J FORTUNE.
3-5yr children classes: about 15 minutes each class
6-8yr children classes: about 20-25 minutes each class
9-12yr older children: about 30-40 minutes each class
The kindergarten should schedule a 5-10 minute “break” between classes
so that the teacher can relax, use the bathroom, have a drink, etc.
How many children in a Kindergarten English class?
The kindergarten can decide how many students are in each class. However, small classes (under 15 children in each class) is best for children’s learning and for the teachers to give good lessons and to control the children. A in J FORTUNE requires that during each lesson, one Japanese kindergarten teacher is in the classroom with the A in J FORTUNE teacher during the entire class time. Also, children’s parents can observe the class at anytime but if possible, the A in J FORTUNE teacher should be told “in advance”(1 week before if possible), if parents will be observing the class.
The PAYMENT AND COST
Payment: The kindergarten will make payment directly to A in J FORTUNE.
Direct payment can be done by either: (a) sending payment
directly to the A in J FORTUNE bank account please click here or (b) an A in J FORTUNE staff member will visit the kindergarten and will receive payment directly from the kindergarten school principle.
COST: the total cost of the A in J FORTUNE Kindergarten program is determined by various factors. These are: the length of the contract(6 months or 1 year contracts), the number of classes and the number of students in each class, the age group of the
children, the location of the kindergarten(the travel time needed for the A in J
FORTUNE teacher to travel to and from the kindergarten), etc.
A in J FORTUNE is flexible and the total cost for our kindergarten
English program IS NEGOTIABLE between both the Owner/President
and Staff Coordinator of A in J FORTUNE AND the Owner/Principle
of the Kindergarten.
